The Institute of Geology is one of the pioneer institutes of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJ&K), Pakistan. Established as the Department of Geology in 1973, the Institute now offers BS, MS, and PhD degree programs in Applied Geology, as well as BS and PGD programs in GIS and Remote Sensing. The Institute actively explores and investigates the country’s natural resources, contributing significantly to scientific advancement and the socio-economic development of Pakistan.
The Kashmir Journal of Geology (KJG) was first launched in 1983 and successfully published twelve print volumes, gaining recognition among both national and international geoscientific communities. However, due to unavoidable circumstances, the journal was discontinued in 1994.
The Institute of Geology, UAJ&K, has now revived the journal under its original name, Kashmir Journal of Geology, with the aim of providing a comprehensive and authoritative platform for current developments in Geosciences. KJG now publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed research articles across a broad spectrum of geoscience disciplines on an annual basis, exclusively in online volumes, and is ensuring free and open access to researchers worldwide.
